Sub-Regional ECOWAS Peace Pageant

Project: Raising Youth advocates for peaceful co-existence in the west African Sub-Region & the world at large

Summary: The ECOWAS Commission is continuously looking at ways to encourage the participation of the Youth in the Development Agenda of their Countries. The ECOWAS Peace Pageant is one such initiative geared at involving the youth of the Sub-Region in the Peace Building and Development Programs of the ECOWAS Commission. The Program is an initiative of Forum Solutions International, (formerly 702 Productions Limited) with the endorsement and support of the ECOWAS Commission in Abuja, Nigeria.

At FSEL, we believe that the task and responsibility of achieving sustainable peace in the ECOWAS Sub-region should be a collective effort. As captured by the Shenandoah Proverb, “It is no longer good enough to cry peace, we must act peace, live peace, and live in peace”.

Our work with the youth of the ECOWAS Sub-region is a conscious demonstration of this belief.

The ECOWAS Peace Pageant is:

  1. A platform designed to give young ladies, who are Citizens of any of the fifteen (15) ECOWAS Member States, an opportunity to speak on important issues of concern to the Region.
  2. A Stage to showcase the different unique Cultures of ECOWAS
  3. An opportunity and a platform to showcase the talent and intellect of our young ladies.
  4. A Platform to unveil and market West African fashion, Art and Culture to Africa and the World.
  5. An opportunity to crown a Peace Ambassador who will engage in social work and continue to advocate for Peaceful Co-existence not only in the Sub-Region but the world at large.

The Peace Pageant also affords Governments and the Private Sector of the ECOWAS Member States an opportunity to affirm their support for issues to do with Women and Children as well as Youth Development and the continuous support for efforts at Sustaining the Peace and Accelerating the Growth of the Sub-Region.
